A fascination for artists since the dawn of humanity, the body takes center stage in “Like Life: Sculpture, Color, and the Body” on view at New York’s Met Breuer from 21 March to 22 July 2018.

Working to build dialogues across time periods and approaches to body representation, “Like Life” features roughly 120 works from major international museums that explore the range of the idealized to the realistic figure. From cold marble forms to figures accented with paint and human hair, the collection on display reflects our ongoing obsession with self-representation as well as a deeper contemplation on the humanity that connects us all. Visitors will be treated to works that span the centuries from Donatello to Jeff Koons and that explore the potential of the human body and its artistic representation.
