Returning to the very root of artistic study, the exhibition “From Life,” on view at London’s Royal Academy of Arts until 11 March 2018, focuses on the role both of the figure and of life in art’s – and the museum’s – rich history. The result is a showcase that is both elemental and exhilarating as it explores the traditions and revolutions in artistic practice.

In the galleries, visitors will be treated to dynamic conversations between 18th-century drawings and more contemporary examples, such as those taken from the much-publicized Iggy Popp Life Class devised by artist Jeremy Deller in 2016. These pairings, combined with the showcase of new technologies and applications that allow artists to expand their explorations beyond traditional media, result in an exhibition that encourages visitors to contemplate the living history of art alongside the role of life within it. More details on the exhibition can be found on the museum’s website.
